Do you take pride in planning unique birthday parties for your children? OR, do you quickly put everything together at the last minute, knowing full well all will work out just fine?
Whatever your party planning prowess – we have researched several new and creative kid birthday parties themes and activities for your consideration.
Let’s get started.
Kid Birthday Parties –Theme Ideas:
Insect Adventure Theme: Take all the invited quests and your birthday boy or girl to a park, or perhaps even in your own back yard. Provide each guest with a small plastic (aka: inexpensive) magnifying glass. Hint: Check out the Dollar Store, or a local party supply store.
Instruct each child to “discover” as many living insects as possible in a specific time period. To encourage teamwork, divide into equal teams. The team that discovers the most living things, WIN’s!
Carnival Theme: Include “free-admission” tickets inside each invitation, letting your soon-to-be party go’ers know that the carnival is in town and they are invited. (Be sure they won’t take you too literally ;)
When guests arrive, have several guessing games set up for each child to participate in. These might include guessing the number of jelly beans in a mason jar; marbles in a fish bowl; candy kisses in a bowl; crayons in a container, etc. Have prizes for each of your amazing winners!
Create a host of games for these types of kid birthday parties that all children will enjoy. For instance, you can create a bean-bag toss game; have a hoola-hoop contest (Whomever can hoola-hoop the longest wins a special prize. If by chance you have more than one hoola-hoop champion, you can create a “sudden-death” event where each person has to hoola on one foot – that should make it interesting, huh?)
Offer face painting, popcorn balls, (cotton candy if available), corn dogs and soda pop. The options are endless!
Picnic Theme: In addition to the regular picnic food options, picnic events provide a great opportunity for outdoor fun activities for kids.
Picnic activities for kid birthday parties might include: Organize a 3-legged race pairing up children to complete to win wonderful prizes; OR, save all the seeds in that huge watermelon everyone just ate and conduct an exciting Watermelon Seed Spitting contest – this idea is certain to create some belly-laughs.
And for the very brave at heart - conduct a water-balloon tossing contest. Simply have half the children line up opposite the other half. Provide a large water-filled balloon to be tossed and caught by each pairing. After each successful toss, each child must take one large step backwards, then toss the balloon back to their partner. Each team continues until the water balloon falls on the ground and breaks. The last remaining team, WIN’s!
Hopefully, these great theme ideas have gotten your creative juices flowing.
Remember, FUN can be very inexpensive, yet no less memorable.
Go for that one great memory – kid birthday parties provide the perfect opportunity.
